Import a video clip (4 seconds to 3 minutes), pick one of 37 AI-built locations, optionally tap anything in your frame to change it, then render. Your clip is uploaded once over HTTPS, a render job swaps the scene while keeping your face and performance untouched, and the finished video downloads back to your phone. The staged upload is deleted when the job completes.
Talk-to-camera clips get the most dramatic transformations, because the scene behind you does all the work. Good light on your face helps the render keep your identity crisp. A messy room is fine, that is the whole point.
1 credit equals $1 of render compute. A 15-second 480p preview costs about 2 credits and a finished 15-second 720p scene about 5. Longer clips cost more because they render as multiple 30-second chapters. The app shows the exact credit cost before every render. Monthly subscription credits reset each month and do not roll over. Top-up packs never expire and are spent after your monthly credits run out.
Videos over 30 seconds render as chapters, which multiplies compute cost. The Studio plan ($59.99/month, 25 credits) is the only tier that unlocks clips up to 3 minutes, because the lower tiers cannot cover the cost of a multi-chapter render.
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your Apple ID, then Subscriptions, then Backlot, then Cancel Subscription. You keep your plan until the end of the billing period. Monthly credits do not roll over after cancellation, but unused top-up pack credits stay on your account.
No. Backlot has no sign-in. Your subscription is managed by Apple through your Apple ID, and your clips and projects live on your device.
No. Credits are deducted only when a render job is accepted. If a render fails, your credits are untouched and you can retry for free.
